The impunity of the unions reached a new peak of violence in downtown Córdoba. A demonstrator from the Metalworkers' Union (UOM) deliberately attacked a civilian driver. The incident took place on February 19, 2026 at the intersection of Maipú Avenue and Olmos Avenue.
The cameras recorded how the individual lit an explosive with a cigarette. Then, he threw the noise bomb under a Ford Focus that was trying to turn. The device detonated under the chassis while the vehicle was in full circulation.
This terrorist-style act occurred in the context of the march called by the CGT. The unions grouped in the labor federation were protesting against the labor modernization debated in the Chamber of Deputies. The demonstration began at 11 a.m. at the Historic House on Vélez Sarsfield Avenue. Unions such as SEP, UEPC, La Bancaria, Suoem, and Cispren took part. These organizations systematically prevented the normal traffic of productive citizens.
While workers were trying to fulfill their duties, the demonstrators were blocking the main arteries. The general strike affected essential services such as urban and interurban transportation. Public offices and banking activity were also brought to a standstill.
