The United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has urgently summoned hundreds of senior U.S. military leaders, generals, and admirals, to a meeting that will take place next week at the Quantico military base in Virginia.
The information was confirmed by at least five government officials to U.S. media outlets, who emphasized that this kind of massive summons is extremely unusual.
So far, the official reason for the meeting has not been disclosed, which has caused a wave of expectations among the expected attendees. Two officials indicated that the lack of clarity has led many officers to reorganize their schedules, which are usually planned weeks or months in advance. "People are scrambling to change their plans and confirm whether they need to attend," said one official on condition of anonymity.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell limited his statement to saying that "the Secretary of War will address his military leaders next week," referring to the new name of the former Department of Defense, following President Donald Trump's order to rename it as the "Department of War."
Vice President JD Vance downplayed the situation, stating that these types of meetings "aren't unusual."
