The union of club workers and stadium operational staff is joining CGT's demand and is bringing national soccer to a halt

Argentine soccer will be put on hold this Thursday as a consequence of the general strike called by the CGT. The adherence of the Union of Workers of Sports and Civil Entities (UTEDyC), the union that brings together club employees and stadium operations staff, forced the suspension of the matches scheduled for the sixth round of the Torneo Apertura.
The measure has a full impact on the organization of sporting events, since without the staff in charge of access control, ticket validation, maintenance, and internal security it is not feasible to guarantee the normal development of the matches.

The matches that will not be played are Defensa y Justicia - Belgrano (5:15 p.m.), San Lorenzo - Estudiantes de Río Cuarto (5:15 p.m.), Instituto - Atlético Tucumán (7:30 p.m.) and Independiente Rivadavia - Independiente (7:30 p.m.). The AFA and the tournament organizers are already working on the official rescheduling of the fixtures, which will be announced in the coming hours.
The only exception will be the international match between Lanús and Flamengo for the first leg of the Recopa Sudamericana, scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Unlike the domestic tournament, CONMEBOL keeps a stricter stance regarding its calendar and the Granate club decided to guarantee the operation with private security and its own staff, including the participation of executives, to avoid a postponement that would complicate its continental schedule.
