An attempted robbery at a bakery in Remedios de Escalada, Lanús district, ended with an unexpected scene. Two criminals who pretended to be customers entered the establishment to steal the day's takings, but two employees managed to thwart the robbery.
Everything was recorded by the store's security cameras, located at Marcos Avellaneda and Luis Vernet. The footage shows how the thieves entered completely calmly and ordered a kilo of bread before attempting to carry out the robbery.

How the attempted robbery at the bakery unfolded
When one of the employees stepped away from the counter, one of the thieves opened the cash register while his accomplice acted as a lookout at the store's entrance. At that moment, the second worker came out of the kitchen after seeing what was happening.
The woman grabbed a butcher knife that was within reach and charged at the two assailants. The footage shows how she confronts them without hesitation, forcing them to retreat.
The struggle and the criminals' escape
During the violent confrontation, one of the employees managed to grab one of the thieves by the arm and push him toward the exit. The two criminals fled the scene at a run without taking anything from the store.
The employees filed a police report and handed over the security camera footage as evidence to advance the investigation.
Both suspects escaped the scene and remain at large. The incident reignited demands for increased security in the area, where residents report recurring robberies in businesses and on public streets.
