Xiaomi introduced its new switch-type joystick for playing on a cellphone or tablet

The REDMI Gaming Controller offers physical controls and Bluetooth connectivity for gaming on a cellphone or tablet

Xiaomi introduced its first telescopic joystick for mobile phones and tablets. It is designed for those seeking a more comfortable gaming experience, similar to a portable console.

The REDMI Gaming Controller stands out for its Nintendo Switch-style design. It is fully compatible with services such as Steam or Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The Switch-inspired design

The new joystick features an extendable format that allows users to mount the phone or tablet in the center, as if it were a console.

Unlike other similar pads, Xiaomi's can separate into two independent parts, each with its own battery.

Physical controls and premium features

It features two sticks, a D-pad, front and top buttons, triggers, and several extra buttons to access functions such as Bluetooth or system options.

It includes haptic vibration, LED lights on the sticks, and fully customizable buttons, all with an aesthetic that combines white with gray and modern details.

Connectivity: Bluetooth only, no cables

Instead of using USB-C or another type of physical connection, Xiaomi opted for a single connection method: Bluetooth.

This allows for greater flexibility but limits use in contexts where a direct, latency-free connection is preferred.

Tested on the REDMI K Pad with Black Myth: Wukong

During the presentation, the controller was demonstrated in action with the REDMI K Pad, an 8.8-inch tablet, running Black Myth: Wukong.

The session was remote via Steam, showcasing the controller's versatility for playing with external platforms in a cloud gaming format.
