The Attorney General's Office summoned Marcela Aguiñaga to give her version in the Caja Chica case, scheduled for April 8, 2026 at 11:00 in Quito. The diligence will be confidential and seeks to clarify possible crimes of money laundering

and organized crime.

The case investigates alleged illegal funds from Venezuela that would have financed the 2023 electoral campaign of the Citizens' Revolution movement, led by Luisa González. The Office of the Attorney General continues to reinforce transparency and control in processes with a high political impact

Aguiñaga, who announced that he will leave the Prefecture of Guayas on May 14 after three years in office, confirmed that he will not participate in new electoral processes due

to “complex personal circumstances”.

Diligence reinforces the State's role in overseeing legality and controlling political funding, demonstrating that no authority is above the law.
