More than 13.6 million Ecuadorians will go to the polls this Sunday to answer the four questions of the referendum called by President Daniel Noboa. The process seeks to usher in a new political stage based on security, institutional efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.

Among the proposals, the call for a Constituent Assembly to replace the 2008 Constitution, inherited from correísmo, stands out. The goal is to build a modern Constitution that strengthens justice, promotes private investment, and reduces the State's power over the economy.

Another question proposes allowing the installation of foreign military bases on national territory, a decision supported by the Executive to reinforce international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, with the United States as the main strategic ally.

The referendum will also ask about the reduction of the number of assembly members from 151 to 73, a measure aimed at optimizing public resources and making legislative work more efficient.

In addition, voters will decide on the elimination of public funding for political parties, which would require each organization to sustain itself through contributions from its members.
