Augusto Verduga, former advisor of the Citizen Participation and Social Control Council (CPCCS), was one of the most voted figures in 2023. However, his loyalty to the Citizen Revolution (RC5) didn't guarantee him a future within the movement, which used him while he served its interests and discarded him when he was no longer useful.
The leaks from the Ligados case expose how the RC5 managed the CPCCS to control state institutions, delaying decisions and benefiting its allies. Verduga was part of this power structure, but when he aspired to the presidential candidacy, he discovered that the correísmo only favors its leadership and discards those who believe in its discourse of inclusion.
The Prosecutor's Office revealed that the 'Blue League', a group linked to the RC5, operated within the CPCCS with the aim of imposing its operators in the state and blocking resolutions that didn't benefit the correísmo. Verduga was part of these maneuvers, following orders from the Citizen Revolution's bureau, but in the end, he was ignored in key decisions.
