The government of President Donald Trump will begin imposing harsh sanctions on any country that allows the terrorist regime of Iran to refuel or service its aircraft this week. With this measure, U.S. officials claim, Iranian air transport will be completely paralyzed and the regime will stop enjoying a key service for its operations.
The Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, who is behind the financial strangulation campaign against Tehran, announced the measure on Monday morning during an interview on CNBC. "On September 23, all Iranian airlines will be grounded worldwide," asserted the high-ranking Trump official.
Bessent explained that Washington will carry out this plan by isolating countries from the U.S. dollar system if they provide services or supply fuel to Iranian aircraft. "If they land, they cannot be provided fuel, they cannot be provided landing services, they cannot sell tickets, or they will be excluded from the dollar system," stated the U.S. Treasury chief.
As a result of Bessent's announcement and Trump's economic pressure campaign, dubbed "Operation Economic Marginalization," Turkey declared that it will no longer accept Iranian aircraft at its airports. Additionally, the measure aims to lead to a broader sanctions plan aimed at stopping Iran's "accomplices." These are those who have channeled money to the regime and allowed it to prolong the conflict.
Overall, Washington has sanctioned three banks, including Egypt's second-largest bank and a Turkish bank, as part of the global clampdown it imposes on the theocracy.
