A brave merchant chased and stopped violent criminals in Reducto

In an act of courage and exhaustion, a shopkeeper from the Reducto neighborhood in Montevideo decided to take justice into his own hands and pursue two criminals who had been repeatedly robbing his store. This Tuesday, around 7:30 a.m., the owner of the business, a hardworking man tired of being a victim of crime, got into his Renault Kangoo and went after the thieves, in a chase that ended at the intersection of General San Martín and José Garibaldi.

The criminals, who were fleeing on a motorcycle after committing yet another robbery, did not count on the determination of this anonymous hero. The shopkeeper, with admirable bravery, caught up with them and, in a controlled impact, struck the motorcycle from behind, causing them to lose control. The motorcycle ended up crashing into the rear of a Coetc bus, Angie on route 456. One of the thieves, seriously injured, was left lying in the street, crying like a cowardly child, while his accomplice, in a total act of cowardice, abandoned his partner and ran away, leaving the motorcycle behind.

The injured criminal, who according to police sources remains in serious condition at Maciel Hospital, paid a high price for his crimes. Meanwhile, his accomplice remains at large, but street justice has already struck its first blow. The shopkeeper, with minor injuries, was treated at the scene and then went to the police station to file his report. He stated that the thieves were known to him, responsible for multiple robberies at his business, which demonstrates the impunity with which these criminals operated in the neighborhood.

This act of courage by the shopkeeper is not only a response to exhaustion, but a clear message against the crime that plagues workers. While the criminals take advantage of society, this man showed that the patience of honest citizens has a limit. The serious injury of one of the thieves and the escape of the other are a reminder that actions have consequences, and although the system sometimes fails, the determination of one man can make a difference.
