National Minister of Health, Mario Lugones, spoke positively about the Monday speech by President Javier Milei in which he announced that the 2026 budget guidelines foresee increases for various areas such as disability pensions and health, among others.

"The 2026 budget foresees a real increase of 17% for Health and 5% for disability pensions, just as President Milei has just announced," Lugones stated.

"After decades of disorder, today Argentina can plan its health policy with transparency and sustainability," he added.

Ministry of Health's Achievements

Additionally, the head of the health department highlighted some of the area's achievements under his administration and expressed confidence that Congress will approve the 2026 budget.

"Thanks to efficient resource management, we've achieved milestones such as moving up the measles vaccine to 18 months, saving through smart purchasing of medicines and vaccines, renegotiating one of the world's most expensive treatments for babies with SMA, enabling hospitals to acquire medicines at a price below 35% of pharmacy prices, and ending the triangulation of 'rubber stamp' union health insurance," he said.

"This is the path for resources to go where they belong: to health professionals and patients. The 2026 Budget reflects that same logic: seriousness and predictability," he added.

"We trust that the National Congress will support this responsible budget, which consolidates fiscal order and prioritizes the health of Argentinians," he concluded.
