This Sunday, July 27, the Martín Fierro Radio Awards 2025, the most anticipated ceremony in the Argentine radio industry, took place. Organized by the Association of Journalists of Argentine Television and Radio (APTRA), the gala brought together established figures, new talents, and more than 400 guests at Jano’s Darwin, in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
The event was hosted by Pamela David and Luis Novaresio, who made their debut as a duo leading the awards. The broadcast was aired live on América TV, generating great anticipation on social media and in specialized media outlets.
In total, 32 categories were announced, recognizing the best of the past year on air. As a novelty, this edition included three main statuettes: the Martín Fierro de Oro for AM, the de Oro for FM, and, for the first time, the Martín Fierro de Platino.
The absence of Luis Ventura and the start of the gala
One of the most talked-about facts was the absence of Luis Ventura, president of APTRA. Ventura was unable to attend the opening or the presentation of the top awards due to an injury sustained during a scandalous fight at a lower-division Argentine soccer match. The journalist received a severe blow to the head amid a brawl between Victoriano Arenas and Central Ballester, where he was serving as coach.
The gala began promptly at 8:45 p.m. with an emotional review of the history of radio. In Ventura's absence, the person in charge of opening the ceremony was Santos Buglisi, vice president of APTRA.
Tribute moments
The ceremony continued with a special tribute to 100 years of Radio Mitre, with remarks by Jorge Fernández Díaz and Fernando Bravo as representatives.
Before the first commercial break, a tribute was paid to journalist and writer Mario Mactas, recently deceased, in a highly emotional moment that was accompanied by a respectful standing ovation from the audience.
Another notable tribute was for the historic station Rock & Pop. The person in charge of presenting it was Bobby Flores, who reviewed the iconic moments of the radio station that defined an era on the dial. In recognition of its 40-year history, Rock & Pop received a special Martín Fierro.
Finally, one of the most anticipated tributes was for Jorge Lanata, who passed away at the end of 2024. The journalist was remembered for his show "Lanata sin filtro" on Radio Mitre. The tribute stirred strong emotion in the room and ended with a collective round of applause. His daughters, Lola and Bárbara, were the ones who received the statuette.
The first winners of the night
The awards ceremony continued with the first winners. In the Musical Program category, the statuette went to Aspen Night, from Aspen.
In the Daily General Interest Program on AM category, the award went to Basta Baby, the show by Baby Etchecopar on Radio Rivadavia.
The technical category was also recognized: Best work in operations went to Marcelo Seminara, operator at Aspen.
Cristina Pérez and a speech with a political message
One of the most heated moments of the night was the speech by Cristina Pérez toward the end of the ceremony. Upon receiving the award for Best Female Host on AM, she took the opportunity to deliver a strong political message. "I've never worn masks and I never will. This year was very important for the republic because it was proven that we are all equal before the law. Democracy needs there to be no theft," she said regarding the conviction of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
Throughout the gala, she was accompanied by her partner, Luis Petri, Minister of Defense of the Nation, which added symbolic weight to her words. From the audience, some attendees listened alertly, while others, such as Tamara Pettinato, made visible gestures of disagreement or Beto Casella, who pretended to hide.
The closing with the top awards: Gold and Platinum
The most anticipated moment of the night arrived with the presentation of the three most important statuettes:
The first Platinum Martín Fierro in history went to Aspen, in recognition of its trajectory and iconic presence on the dial.
The Gold Martín Fierro for FM went to Nadie nos para, from Rock & Pop, the show hosted by Beto Casella.
On AM, the Gold Martín Fierro went to Un buen momento, from Radio La Red. The entire team went up enthusiastically, danced on stage, and took their time to express their gratitude, marking one of the happiest moments of the night.
