Lionel Messi has confirmed his contract extension with Inter Miami until the end of 2028, but beyond the sporting announcement, the Argentine captain himself explained the reasons that led him to extend his relationship with the American club: his emotional well-being, family comfort, and the happiness of his daily life in Miami.
"I have always said that I base my decisions on how I feel day to day and on how I feel physically and mentally in order to keep playing and remain part of this club. I truly felt very good throughout the year, I feel happy living in Miami, just like my family does," he said in an interview with NBC News.
The signing of the new contract took place at the Miami Freedom Park Stadium, the modern venue that will be the club's home starting in 2026. In the video released by Inter Miami, titled "He's Home," the 38-year-old from Rosario is seen signing his contract amid the stadium's construction, a symbolic gesture that reinforces his commitment to the project.
