The incident took place at the home of Elba Palermo, the journalist's mother, who is 90 years old. According to reports on A la tarde (América TV), three criminals broke into the residence.
Journalist Luis Bremer explained on air that the caregivers were tied up. One of them was reportedly blindfolded and injured, although she is out of danger.
During the robbery, the intruders ransacked the house in search of money and valuables. It also emerged that they reportedly took the internal security cameras.

Elba Palermo is going through an advanced stage of Alzheimer's, which made the situation even more delicate. According to reports, she was immobilized and locked in the bathroom during the assault. Police personnel worked at the scene to carry out forensic examinations.
Some time ago, Lapegüe had explained how he manages to connect with his mom despite the illness. "She doesn't recognize me, but when I play the piano for her she looks at me and smiles", he had said in previous interviews.
