Lamine Yamal usually makes headlines for his brilliant football, his precocious records, or the awards he keeps collecting, such as when he won the Kopa Trophy last September 22 at the Ballon d'Or gala. However, this time the impact came from his father, Mounir Nasraoui, who made statements that sparked debate on social media.
"There are many out there who say nonsense. They say "why don't you go to work? You live off your son." I'm going to say one thing, gentlemen: Thank you, son, I will always be grateful. I will live off you," he said in a homemade video in which he was seen cooking, responding to those who accuse him of taking financial advantage of his son's success.
Far from stopping there, Nasraoui also defended Yamal after the Ballon d'Or, where the Barcelona forward finished second behind Ousmane Dembélé. "I haven't said anything foolish. For people to know, I've said that my son is the best in the world. I haven't said anything else, but well, it's fine. Let them keep talking, let them keep talking," he pointed out.
