Córdoba records a new surge in violence in 2025, with 77 homicides so far this year. On average, one person is killed every four days, which highlights a concerning persistence of lethal crime. The Capital accounts for nearly half of the reported cases.

The total number of violent deaths shows a sustained trend in recent years. In 2024, 117 murders were reported and in 2023 there were 116, according to official data from the provincial Police. Although the current number appears lower, specialists warn that the final months of the year usually see more serious incidents.

The use of firearms continues to be a constant in the crimes committed. Shootings in urban neighborhoods and attacks motivated by personal retaliation have become the main causes of homicides in Córdoba.

Urban violence and revenge: the axes of crime

Of the 77 murders committed this year, at least 44 are related to incidents of urban violence. These involve fights, score-settling, or acts of retaliation, mostly carried out by young men. The city of Córdoba accounts for the largest number of cases under this pattern.

In second place are homicides due to domestic violence, with 28 victims. These include seven murders of women and 21 intrafamily crimes that occurred in different localities of the provincial territory.

Violent robberies and innocent victims

Insecurity also claimed fatal victims in different parts of the province. Seven people died during robberies and assaults in 2025. Notable cases include the murder of an Uber driver in the La Carbonada neighborhood and the killing of a young man attacked by a gang in Empalme.

In other incidents, four retirees were beaten to death in localities such as Río Primero, Las Varillas, Villa Los Aromos, and Alcira Gigena. Investigators attribute most of these crimes to attempted robberies.

October was once again one of the most violent months of the year, with eleven murders recorded. The trend repeats itself with the arrival of the end of the year, when street fights and attacks increase.

Where killings occur in Córdoba

Half of the homicides in 2025 occurred in the provincial Capital, with 37 victims. Thirty-five percent of the crimes were reported in the southern area, mainly in Río Cuarto and departments such as Calamuchita, General Roca, and Santa María.

The northern part of the province accounted for the remaining 17%, with incidents in Cruz del Eje, San Javier, Ischilín, San Justo, and Punilla. In almost all cases, a firearm was the element used to take a life.

The crime map in Córdoba reflects a persistent and complex phenomenon, in which urban violence and personal conflicts are the main drivers of crime. Despite ongoing investigations, social concern is growing in the face of increasing violent incidents and the constant loss of lives.
