Route E55 is undergoing a series of essential road improvements that seek to enhance the safety and comfort of all residents of La Calera. The tasks include the installation of renewed signage and the construction of specific bays for passengers of public transportation to board and alight. These interventions are part of a technical agreement to modernize the main access points that connect the town with the city of Córdoba.

The creation of 18 bus stops equipped with resistant shelters to protect residents during their daily waits has been confirmed. In addition, the plan includes about 4,000 meters (13,123 feet) of asphalt reinforcement to solve the potholes and the evident deterioration of the current roadway. The paving of shoulders in critical sectors will prevent public transportation from having to stop in the central lane, thus speeding up all local traffic.

One of the projects most eagerly awaited by the community is the construction of an elevated footbridge in front of the rural educational institution Dardo Rocha. This structure is vital to safeguard the physical integrity of the students who currently must cross the route in an area with a high accident rate. Likewise, the future entrance roundabout is emerging as the largest-scale project to organize the flow of vehicles and reduce the risk of collisions.

Improvements in road safety and urban connectivity

As these road improvements progress, Mayor Fernando Rambaldi is leading residents' historic claim against the collection of the illegal toll. The mayor has positioned himself as the main representative of residents of La Calera, actively accompanying self-organized citizens in their protests. His commitment seeks to put an end to what is considered an unfair economic burden for those who use the roadway in a strictly urban and everyday manner.

Rambaldi keeps that the road functions in practice as an internal avenue where people travel to shopping centers or health centers on a daily basis. The municipal administration emphasizes that there are no real alternative routes that would allow users to avoid the payment, which contradicts current regulations. The central argument is that the short stretch of expressway that exists has already been more than paid for by local users over the decades.

Recently, a reduction in the tariff value for residents was achieved, lowering the cost from $690 to $495 after arduous negotiations. However, this benefit is insufficient for working families who must pass through the tollbooth several times a day. In the face of new rate increases, the mayor reaffirmed that he will continue to demand the total exemption from payment of the toll to protect residents' wallets.

Fight for the elimination of the illegal toll

The dialogue with the concessionaire company is being maintained in firm terms to ensure that the investment commitments in public works are fulfilled as agreed. Rambaldi insists that the definitive solution to the conflict is political in nature and depends exclusively on a decision by the governor. Residents of La Calera see in their mayor an authoritative voice who conveys social discontent to the tables where transportation policies are defined.

The implementation of horizontal and vertical signage at dangerous crossings is already showing a positive impact on the prevention of minor accidents. These improvements not only highlight the access to the city, but also provide greater peace of mind to parents whose children attend nearby schools. Each shelter installed represents a concrete step forward in the quality of life of workers from La Calera who use public transportation to get to their jobs.

The public works plan will continue to be carried out over the coming months, prioritizing those sectors where traffic is most compromised by the flow. The mayor's support for mobilized residents reinforces the identity of a community that demands respect for its rights to free internal movement. The combination of new infrastructure and persistence in the demand for fair toll rates is expected to definitively transform access to La Calera.
