The former vice-presidential candidate stated that Peronism will do the reforms promoted by Milei "the other way around"

The national Kirchnerist deputy Agustín Rossi indicated that a potential return of Peronism to power would involve dismantling the economic reforms promoted by Javier Milei, recovering monetary issuance to finance the State, and immediately displacing the president of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili.

The former running mate of Sergio Massa in the 2023 elections made the statements during an interview on the streaming of El Cronista. There, he rejected the reform of the BCRA's Organic Charter that the Government is promoting and stated that the initiative represents “the law of defeat with which Milei is admitting he is going to lose the elections.”

“I do not agree with the reform of the Central Bank's Organic Charter,” Rossi asserted. He argued that a future Peronist government would need to retain the ability to issue money to finance itself due to the tax cuts and withholdings applied by the libertarian administration and the benefits outlined in the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI).

The proposal exposed the Kirchnerism's intention to once again use the Central Bank as a source of financing for public spending, a policy that for years fueled unbacked issuance and inflation. Rossi was even more explicit when referring to the leadership of the monetary authority: “If there is a Kirchnerist Peronist government, Bausili cannot last a minute at the head of the BCRA.”

The current head of the agency presented this Wednesday before the Finance and Budget and Treasury committees of the Chamber of Deputies on the economic foundations of the Organic Charter reform.

Rossi did not limit himself to questioning monetary policy. He also anticipated a general review of the Government's economic program: “All the things Milei did, we have to do them, but in reverse.” The phrase serves as a direct warning to investors and productive sectors that made decisions under the new framework of deregulation, tax reduction, and fiscal discipline.

The statements were made public just two days after the governor of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, promised to nationalize and expropriate assets if Peronism returns to power. “Whatever needs to be nationalized, we will nationalize. Whatever needs to be expropriated, we will expropriate,” the Riojan leader had stated.

In this way, two Kirchnerist leaders publicly coincided in anticipating a restoration of the interventionist model and raising the so-called "kuka risk": Quintela through expropriations and nationalizations, and Rossi through the recovery of monetary issuance, the displacement of BCRA authorities, and the reversal of Milei's reforms.

The Santa Fe legislator, currently a deputy of Unión por la Patria, was also Minister of Defense during the administration in which a TOW missile disappeared from an Army unit in La Plata. The weapon was found abandoned in 2022, seven years after the incident.
