The joint operation between the PSA and the Buenos Aires police made it possible to uncover a clandestine workshop that was manufacturing illegal license plates

The Airport Security Police and the Buenos Aires City Police dismantled an organization that produced fake license plates in Córdoba. The investigation began after suspicious posts were detected on social media offering plates "identical" to the official ones. The operations concluded in the Pueyrredón neighborhood, where a workshop equipped with printing and stamping machinery was found.
The procedure included simultaneous raids in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and Córdoba, where hundreds of plates ready for distribution were found. Investigators also seized tools, documentation, and devices used in the counterfeiting of license plates. According to police sources, the workshop had been operating for several months and had a shipping network to different provinces.
Buyers accessed the license plates through the Marketplace platform, where the ad promised legal products and fast home delivery. "They manufactured them in Córdoba and shipped them by parcel service to Buenos Aires, where there is a significant shortage of official license plates," sources in the case explained. Orders were placed using domain data and postal address, with no verification required.

An illegal network with national reach
The case, which remains open, seeks to determine how many people were part of the network and what their level of organization was. Investigators suspect that it was a circuit with distribution in different parts of the country and possible links to graphic workshops. So far, no arrests have been made, but the judiciary is moving forward with new proceedings and expert analyses of the seized material.
Authorities emphasized that counterfeiting license plates constitutes a serious crime linked to other criminal activities. Fake plates are often used on stolen or undocumented cars, which complicates the traceability of vehicles. For this reason, the discovery of the Córdoba workshop represents a significant blow against these types of networks that operate under the appearance of legality.
The coordinated work between national and provincial forces made it possible to detect the scale of the operation and its interjurisdictional reach. The Criminal Investigations Division of Córdoba collaborated with technical analyses of the equipment used. The judiciary will continue investigations to identify those responsible and determine the final destination of the counterfeit license plates.
