The TSJ opened disciplinary proceedings against two judges and a prosecutor for their actions in the Grasso case.

The Superior Court of Justice of Córdoba ordered the opening of disciplinary proceedings against two execution judges and an investigating prosecutor. The measure applies to Gustavo Echenique Esteve, Facundo Moyano Centeno, and Ingrid Vago, who are linked to the supervision of Horacio Grasso. The case caused a strong public reaction due to the discovery of a body hidden in an apartment where the inmate was serving house arrest.

The initiation of the proceedings is the stage following a preliminary investigation that found grounds to further examine responsibilities. In the courts, this is interpreted as a step prior to a possible political jury in the event that irregularities are confirmed. The criticisms include decisions that contradicted technical reports and the lack of response to repeated warnings.

Among the situations analyzed is the repeated granting of house arrest to Grasso, despite unfavorable opinions from the Penitentiary Service. The actions of the courts are also being investigated regarding the repeated perimeter violations detected by the electronic ankle monitor. In addition, the handling of a sexual abuse complaint at the same residence is being examined.

Proceedings in the Grasso case

Judge Echenique Esteve faces criticism for granting house arrest on two occasions even when reports advised against the measure. On one occasion, he ordered that custody be assigned to the mother, and on another, he designated the building's doorman as the responsible party. Both decisions are cited as precedents that facilitated noncompliance.

In the case of Moyano Centeno, more than 190 alerts from the ankle monitor that did not result in the revocation of the benefit are under investigation. His court intervened after Grasso's change of address and was responsible for monitoring his behavior. The lack of concrete measures in this context has come under the scrutiny of the TSJ.

Prosecutor Ingrid Vago will also be evaluated for the handling of two sexual abuse complaints that occurred during the same period. The victim testified in 2022 and 2023, although the case reportedly advanced only after the murder of Milagros Basto. It will be analyzed whether there were unjustified delays and what information was shared with the intervening court.
