River completed one of the most important deals of its transfer window by finalizing the signing of Aníbal Moreno. The agreement with Palmeiras was closed for an amount close to 7 million dollars for the full transfer rights, according to journalist César Luis Merlo, and it aims to strengthen a key area of the team looking ahead to the 2026 season.
Moreno, who has a past at Newell’s and Racing before moving to Brazilian soccer, is currently in Argentina and this Saturday he gave clear signs that the transfer is agreed. Present at a charity event in Catamarca, his home province, the midfielder left a remark that reinforced the version of the agreement: "I haven't picked up my phone for four hours, one comes here to enjoy. My agent knows that we did what was best for me, for my family, and for my future. It is the right decision. I am very eager to start the year. I am preparing very well", he stated in a conversation with El Esquiú.
The negotiation with Palmeiras accelerated due to a specific need of the coaching staff led by Marcelo Gallardo. The departures of leaders such as Enzo Pérez and Nacho Fernández left a void in midfield, an area that the club considers a priority in order to regain competitiveness. In that context, Moreno's signing responds to the idea of adding experience, work rate, and balance in the center of the field.
